Got a bit of a backlog but I wanted to give you all a heads up of what I have to test out for you.
First up is the Glidecam 2000 HD which I aiming to partner with my new Canon 5d Mk II. Should be a perfect combo.
Next up is the very cool Glidetrack compact. Something that I can sit on the floor, on a table or attach to my Miller DS20 tripod and give simple short dolly movements… you can see it in action in the below video by impressive creations who were at the same RE:Frame event that I was at in Austin, Texas last month.
I also have the large Glidetrack HD to test out. Below is a video featuring the HD.
Also coming up very soon is my very late review of the Redrock Micro Follow Focus V2. It’s great and will have more info later.
and finally I have the juicedlink XLR adaptor for the 5d. I am trying to get my hands on the Beachtek adaptor but have no luck, so if you know anyone….
all these reviews and more coming soon!

Glidetrack HD is brilliant, recently made a short ‘promo’ vid featuring it http://www.vimeo.com/4327581
Remember that you can also get adjustable bearings for DryLin W, just add an “E” to the part number, eg WJUME-01-10 or WWE-10-40-10. The adjustment allows you to get a truly zero play free moving slide.
Can’t wait for your review of the glidetrack compact and HD !
Save yourselves a bundle and buy the components direct from the manufacturer

I am about to order a short rail to keep in my camera bag at al times (£60)
Keep up the great work Philip. I check your blog on a daily basis when I am not on location
I would like to have more info on that Craig if possible. Could you give me your email or contact me via my website ?
Hi Fanto,
just follow the link to igus on my entry.
For a 1 mtr you need to order the following:
Rail is – WS-16-60 Length 1000mm
Slide Carriage is – WW-16-60-10
Cheers
Craig
Cheers mate !
Craig – Any mods need to be done to these parts when you get ’em?
Hi DD
The only thing I needed to do was drill a hole in the centre of the carriage to mount the fluid head.
There aren’t any ‘feet’ at the end but I tend to use my rail mounted on top of the tripod for the dolly moves.
I’ll make some feet though. Wont be that difficult.
Craig
The glidetrack and glidecam look impressive! 😀 looking forward for this kind of reviews 😀
Great thread for a d.i.y. Glide track using Igus components below

Advantages of making your own are that you can choose your own lengths and widths and it’s much cheaper.
I feel a bit sorry for the glide track people, I guess they should have tried to whip out a patent somehow for camera dolly use!
That’s the thread I used. Great resource.
I am pretty sure that the rails and carriage used for the Glide Track and the Indie Slider are supplied by igus.
Running test with my old Glidecam 4000 Pro, 5Dmk2 and the 17-40L 1:4 EF lens.
She often runs away from me like that…
