Screen shot 2009-10-18 at 21.50.29Nothing major has changed. Just bug fixes…

Firmware update Version 1.0.9 incorporates the following fixes and improvements:
1. Improves AF accuracy during Live View shooting.
2. Corrects a phenomenon where in rare instances, movie
images shot by the camera may exhibit abnormal colors.
3. Corrects a phenomenon that at certain timings, the shutter cannot
be released when the camera's built-in flash or an external Speedlite
is used for shooting.

It is very easily installed by the user by following these instructions…

Enjoy and make sure your battery has enough juice before upgrading the firmware!!

  1. Hi Philip,
i’ve just updated the firmware, but a bad news for me after little video test. The aliasing fenomenon still appear in the movie created with 720/50P resolution. This camera it’s only usable at 1080/25P or 1080/24P and for for me it’s a very bad news. I’ll try to contact the canon support service. :-(((

  2. I returned my 7D today.

Even after this update the quality just doesn’t compare to my 5D.

The aliasing was horrible, especially on wide shots with horizontal lines.

There was very clear stuttering in the 24P mode, even when converted to a different codec.

Really puzzled with what causes this, not my computer I have a 2x3Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon Mac.

And the worst part was the NOISE in the picture in anything over 600 asa. The 7D really falls apart fast, this alone was a killer for me.

Very sad. Hopefully the 1Dm4 will resolve much of these issues.

  3. I have contacted the Canon support service.
They answer to me that this aliasing isn’t aliasing but Moirè effect due to the Cmos structure sensor so they can do nothing. So at 50P 7D it’s only usable for Close up shooting. Better use at 25P (1080) but I agree with Mike the noise it’s too much just from 800 iso. I’ll give you more details when they’ll give to me from Canon (I’ve request it).
