Well, this came out of the blue, well for me anyway, Blackmagic just announced a higher specced version of their hugely popular Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. The BMPCC6K or to give it its full name, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K (the names just aren’t getting shorter are they?) is a 6K S35 beast of camera for just $2495.<\/p>\n

The sensor is a 6K S35 23.10mm x 12.99 sensor with 6144 x 3456 resolution and the lens mount is Canon EF with full electronics. The body is almost identical, just with a slightly longer front end to accommodate the longer flange.<\/p>\n

The sensor is techincally ever so slightly smaller than the competition; For example the Canon C200 S35 sensor is\u00a024.4 x 13.5mm, the FS7 is\u00a0 23.6 mm x 13.3 mm and the ARRI ALEXA is 23.8 x 13.4mm.<\/p>\n
