I have been using them for about a year. Since discovering them I have found their site and content to be invaluable for my work. A place where I can find amazing music to license for my work. There are many sites on the internet for music that are great resources. The Music Bed being one of them and my favourite. I have asked them to write a guest blog about their service as I wanted to know how they came about and if they thought the democratization of our industry could be beneficial to the music industry&#8230;There is a great discount code at the bottom of the site. If nothing else, it\u2019s a way to keep honing their craft as they wait for the opportunity to do what they love. Musicians are the same way. For many, it feels like there\u2019s this impenetrable wall between their desire to be a full-time musician and their <i>need <\/i>to create a stable income and provide for their families. It\u2019s a constant struggle between doing what they\u2019re personally passionate about and doing what they have to do 9-to-5 to pay the bills.<\/p>\n<p>Here at The Music Bed, we create opportunities for bands, composers, singers, and songwriters to legitimately make it as full-time artists. By partnering with them, we enable these artists to further themselves as musicians without worrying about how they\u2019re going to make ends meet. And, as we hope you\u2019ve experienced, our partnership ultimately assists and inspires the filmmaker.<\/p>\n<p>As filmmakers ourselves, we were <i>constantly <\/i>searching for new music sources. We\u2019d sit in creative meetings, dream up concepts for films, write scripts, cast talent, and then try to find the right music. But every time we placed a song, it seemed like we weren\u2019t getting the feel we needed. It was as if the concept of the video was being held back by a music choice that we were forced to make from a limited pool.<\/p>\n<p>I (Daniel) remember walking into my business partner\u2019s office one morning and saying, \u201cWe literally have friends in the music industry that would KILL for $500 right now . . . .\u201d I remember thinking, <i>Why isn\u2019t there a place where we can license good music?<\/i> <i>Why isn\u2019t this possible? <\/i>That was the day the idea that filmmakers and musicians can coexist and actually <i>help each other thrive<\/i> was born. And two years later, we\u2019re thrilled that it\u2019s come this far.<\/p>\n<p>Most independent filmmakers wear multiple hats: director of photography, editor, colorist, lighting director, and when all is said and done\u2014music supervisor. The importance of a fluid and timely pre- and post-production workflow is a big deal. No one has hours to waste trying to find the right music. While creating films through our own videography company, we\u2019d spend hours upon hours hunting for just the right track. So our initial hope was that The Music Bed would help our fellow filmmakers save time and energy by assisting them in their search for good tracks. These emotions create heart-ties with the sounds a person hears, the imagery he or she sees, and even the artists behind each piece. Over and over again, we hear from users who are reaching out to connect with an artist because that person\u2019s musical creation made a genuine impact through the film that used it. We don\u2019t take that kind of response lightly.<\/p>\n<p>We believe the most powerful part of The Music Bed is the connection that forms between artist, filmmaker, and client. It\u2019s been awesome for us to see these relationships develop. Filmmakers share their brilliant projects that were made better by great music; artists share these same videos because they\u2019re proud of the films that use their music. And inevitably, recurring clients and new fans are being created at the same time. Talking, sharing, and connection are all made possible by the music license. But the part that makes us the giddiest is hearing about the positive impact from the artist\u2019s perspective. The whole process has proven to be such a value-added service to our independent musicians\u2014an idea made apparent by Quinn Erwin, vocalist for Afterlife Parade:<\/p>\n<p><i>All artists and musicians need moments of affirmation regarding their work that reminds them that what they are creating has value.
