I am off to the Emerald Isle at the beginning of December for two workshops.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.galwayfilmcentre.ie\/training\/one-day-dslr-seminar-with-philip-bloom\/\"> One beginner&#8217;s 1 day workshop covering DSLRs and large chip camcorders<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15795 lazyload\" title=\"logo-1\" data-src=\"http:\/\/staging.philipbloom.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/logo-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"116\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 188px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 188\/116;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15795\" title=\"logo-1\" src=\"http:\/\/staging.philipbloom.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/logo-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"116\" \/><\/noscript> and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.galwayfilmcentre.ie\/training\/dslr-workshop-with-philip-bloom\/\"> one two day intermediate workshop.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 1 day event is just 75 Euros and will be a large group but still loads of info and very interactive. The 2 days event is a dirt cheap price of just 150 Euros (subsidised by the Galway Film Centre and FAS Screen training) \u00a0which covers both days&#8230;it&#8217;s just 10 people on this, so it&#8217;ll be hands-on and weather permitting we&#8217;ll go out and shoot!! Downside is that there are just 10 spots&#8230;.don&#8217;t worry if you don&#8217;t get chosen for the 2 day one, the 1 day event will be a fantastic day packed chock full with info I promise and will also be a lot of fun!!<\/p>\n<p>Summary of 2 day event! Day two will cover similar ground but in a much broader way. Still a lot to learn, very much like my recent London and Leeds workshops!<\/p>\n<p>The 2 day workshop is 1st and 2nd December. 1 day is 3rd December.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Participant Profile:<\/strong>\u00a0Camera personnel with experience shooting on DSLRs (feature films, shorts, commercials, music videos, etc). The workshop will accommodate 10 participants.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Course Profile:\u00a0<\/strong>Galway Film Centre and F\u00c1S Screen Training Ireland present a DSLR Workshop with renowned DOP, director and filmmaker Philip Bloom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In this intimate and intensive session, Philip Bloom will show participants how to get the most out of every aspect of their DSLR Video experience. Participants will be guided through a number of topics and provided with hands-on advice throughout. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot material during the workshop, and will be required to bring their own equipment (DSLR &amp; tripod, as well as time-lapse timer, if possible).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Using a practical approach, the following topics will be covered:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Pros and cons of the cameras and how to work around them.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Techniques of sound recording &amp; Dual system sound.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Camera movement: When to and when not to.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Lighting with DSLRs.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Documentary filmmaking: Interview techniques and working with DSLRs in this field.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Large chip camcorders.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>In depth time-lapse lessons including motion controlled and HDR.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Post workflow, conversion and grading.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Tutor Profile:\u00a0<\/strong>Philip Bloom is an icon in the independent filmmaking arena and is at the cutting edge of using the latest affordable cameras. His blog at www.philipbloom.net has to date received over 20 million hits. Philip spends much of his year shooting commercials, documentaries and short films all over the globe. In 2010, he worked with George Lucas on the World War 2 movie \u201cRed Tails\u201d for Lucasfilm using Canon DSLRs.
