  1. Great video!

I think i have been visiting your blog more often then i visit my normal news sites, i am also afraid of loosing my girlfriend due to my current obsession with the Letus Elite 😉

    Anyway

    I have a lense question:

I bought the following lenses (all nikon ai-s):
    20mm f2.8
    24mm f2
    35mm f2
    50mm f1.4
    85mm f2

My question is. Should a re-sell the 85 and 35 and try to get the 1.4’s or will i be allright with these f2’s?

AND, could you recomend a telephoto lens. Should i get a 135 or a 180/200mm – i can only afford one more lens at the moment.

Thanks alot – you are really contributing to lifting the bar in limited budget videoproduction. Thanks alot.

  2. Great video says it all, no more questions thanks. Nice to see your garden coming along looks much better than that rather fetching breezeblock wall from your earlier instructional films !

  3. The answer is you should, but don’t have to. I have a 8.9 on board, but clients love the Dell FPW2405 23″. For best results go out of your SDI to DVI on an HDTV. The peaking function in the camera monitor is great but dosen’t work in every situation, low contrast, skin tone and low light. When focus is critical and you also need to work fast or have a client on set, the external monitors will serve you well. Well worth the investment

  4. Hi, first of all it was a great informational video and made me more knowledgeable about the 35mm adapter (Letus). I am thinking of buying the Letus extreme. Do you have any info how should I go with that to mount it on my JVC GY-HD110U. Does the adapter attaches to the camera first and then the lens or will the adapter go in front of the lens. I am a newbie in 35mm adapters and trying to work it out for my JVC. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    1. unless you buy the expensive and, as yet, unannounced 1/3″ Letus relay you have to screw the Letus onto the front of the stock lens, making it very front heavy and difficult to operate. But it works.

  5. I own a Canon Vixia HG20. I’m just beginning to learn about DoF adapters and I’m considering buying a Letus Extreme instead of a Letus Mini. Is there anything I should be aware of when using a consumer camera with the Letus? Is it worth using the Letus with a Vixia or should I upgrade to a prosumer model before making this investment?

    Thank

  6. I just purchased a used Extreme, and I have a 35 f2.8 (blech) and 50mm f1.8 Nikon lenses that were included with it. I am picking up a few more, obviously as fast as my student budget can afford.

However in this tutorial you go through several shots, and I think it would have been nice to know what lens you were using.

Maybe on a future tutorial you could go through lenses and their practical uses?

  7. I (try to ;-)) use the ex1 + letus elite… maybe I missunderstand your tutorial or my english is not good enough…

Do i have to switch the ex1 in full auto modus? or is it necessary to switch in manual modus (manual fokus, iris?)…

  8. Hi Phil ,
I have been following you all through for past one year on various sites ,ie since i started digging this world of cinematography.
All though i learnt that only still lens are used with Letus Elite .You said you like 80-200mm f2.8 nikon zoom, would this work with Elite and guess this lens has AF.Would that be fine.I was thinking in investing on Zeiss ZF 100mm and thats when I saw this post of your.Kindly let me know.
