  1. Enno Ladwig Chatty!

    Hi there

    another golden FCP X moment.
Have been adding more media to my already big FCP X project. Suddenly the drive does disappear from my list in FCP X. (It is still perfectly visible on my desktop - I can use it etc) But in FCP X? Nada. Nothing. Nix.

I restarted my computer, the harddrive, the program - when starting up - the drive is shown incl. my project and its clips. Once the startup screen disappears so does the drive. I can´t seem to keep it there with me. It just teases me each time. And disappears. The only thing special I noticed during startup is a small yellow exclamation mark besides the project name. (what does that mean?)

It drives me nuts. Somewhere I read to try with USB instead. Sounds ridiculous. I tried. didn´t help.
But what now? Started tempering in the project file on the drive - didn´t want to damage so didn´t try out lots - and clearly didn´t know what to do really.

This drives me nuts. How is this a professional software when your project disappears? I could probably try to copy it to a different drive - but the project is a couple of 1.2TB inc all video files. Didn´t wanna lose so much time.

This drives me nuts. All I wanted was to open the project so that it can optimize media as I go to bed - so that it waits for me optimized and working tomorrow morning. But now I am trying to find a solution to a problem I should´t be having.

How is this a professional software. OK. Enough ranting. Next time: Avid.
The only thing is: I really want to like it.

any one got a helping idea of how to solve my problem - without copying?

found it. the hard drive had a AVCHD folder somewhere hidden on it. That made FCP X believe that this was a camera. Only that folder would have been recognizable.

So if you have the same problem make sure you rename the AVCHD Folder (or BPAV for that matter)… good luck..
