I am currently using pretty much everything that crumplepop.com has released (you gotta catch them when they are released for the $39 sale) ToneGrade ShrinkRay X (still haven't tried yet) SplitScreen X Finisher Noir Moderne Color Grading Central's Cinelook with Gorilla Grain http://www.colorgradingcentral.com/products-cinelook-for-hdslrs-with-gorilla-grain blew my mind when I first used it with cinestyle And I just picked up Magic Bullet Looks when it went on sale
UPDATED CrumplePop Finsher, Lumineux, Noir, Paul Irmiter Dacar, Shrink Ray X, Split Screen X, Tone Grade & Transmatic. It's those $39 discounted intro prices hook me every time. + Magic Bullet Suite. ++ Digital Heaven transition pack, that I'll probably never use. (was an impulse buy when I needed their FCP Counter plugin)
The only plugin I'm using ATM is Plural Eyes. Works stacks better at syncing sound than FCPX's inbuilt tool.
Irudis Tonalizer|VFX for tonality grading, highlight and shadow recovery. Disclosure: I am involved with the product
In case anyone is interested, CrumplePop has a nice deal going on their plugins. Truncated email below...
Color Grading Central is a favorite for the cinelook/gorilla grain. Also enjoy his Luster Grade Film Burns. FCPEffects is another favorite. Some good light leaks and more utility-style plugins. mLooks from MotionVFX are nice color grade presets to use as a base when editing.
Pretty much all the Red Giant offerings, CHV, Nattress, Zaxwerks, Neat, and a couple of other single plugins.
I have been using Rgrain, Finisher, TKY Tilt Shift/camera shake, mLooks, and Crumplepops Noir package. Last couple projects have been mostly Rgrain and mLooks film settings.
well, not sure if this counts as a true plugin - but I rely on Plural Eyes… need it. it's either that I dislike the outcome of the built in synch method in FCPX or that I still haven´t grasped how it really works… When I use Plural Eyes it just works.
I've edited a few pieces to camera now with FCPX, all dual system sound, works fine for me, at first I was a little impatient and tried to use the sync clip before it had finished but now I just give it the time it needs (not long at all really) and it just works. The multicam syncing is even better. Have not used plural eyes in either FCP7 or X, just did my syncing manually via clapper board or a hand clap. Is there a real advantage with Plural Eyes in FCPX? I've seen it demoed and it seems a long way round for something X does by itself.
Useful info everyone. Thanks I was making do with FC express until a month ago!..now I'm discovering all these new plugins, its fantastic!
I just came to the forum to ask the exact same question. Good places to get plug ins, any decent free ones available and is Magic Bullet Looks worth investing in?
Hey Gareth. I was thinking the same thing and decided to buy the suite when they had the big sale day recently. Got it for about half price...not had chance to go through it yet but it looks good. Ultimately I guess it depends on your needs...and wants
