I've been working on some videos for a non-profit and they gave me an external drive that had a bunch of footage a guy had come and shot for them on the Canon XF300. I'm not sure if it's due to how he stored his footage or what, but I cannot open in it FCPX.... Each clip has its own folder and when I go into the folder I have 4 file types. .MXF (which is the only "video" file. I can only view it in VLC) .XML .SIF .CIF the SIF and CIF files I can't even open. Any tips on how to get this working would be appreciated! I'd like to be able to use this footage on this project. Thanks!
Apparently our dear friend XDCAM Transfer from Sony works well (I use this for all my XDCAM stuff but haven't used it for Canon XF material, but others have). http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/content/i...roduct/product/xdcamvtrs?preserveContext=true You will need to register with Sony, but it's free. You're looking for XDCAM Transfer, which is quite a way down the list. Once you have that downloaded and installed, you might like this:
Alrighty! I had seen a page on using the XDCAM Transfer software but it was explained terribly and seemed way too complicated haha. Thanks a bunch, worked great!
