  1. Anthony brown Chatty!

Can we get rid of the Spam accounts posting rubbish on here! I've reported the offenders to the forum using the feature in the tapatalk app for iPhone, just want to know if it's being heard???

We get to it as quick as we can. There were 7 this morning that got cleaned up. Now I've logged in again, there are 3 reports this afternoon. Unlike some forums, the admins here are jobbing, working people who do this when they can.

haha i agree. Its very annoying.

Also, i didn't know what Hugo Boss and perfume had to do with video. :p
    Anyway, thanks Matt.
  4. Lisa Brown, vivian58 and brorm2tsmac clogging up the Sony Alphas/NEX section with post-vertisements for brorsoft and pavtube converters. Sad how low these companies will go.

Aye, the morning chores - mop and bucket in hand...

    Great, thanks.
How come Dvinfo isn't infected with all these spam? Why us?! haha

I'm sure DVinfo.net gets just as much spam - Chris Hurd and his team work really hard at it. I'm only checking in now and then - I get to see Spam alerts, I can check the 'What's New' thread for recent suspicious activity, but there's no bell that rings or emails that go ding when a spammer hits us.

Having said that, once we do have a Spammer, this board is great at the clean-up.

Ah well, keep up the good work :D
Also, i have a mini-grudge with DVinfo as 3 of my attempts to register there failed. they refuse to activate my accounts. haha. any ideas why? I used my real name, proper email...no idea why. ah well.

This is PROLLY why they don't have as much spam (ignoring what I just said). It may be that each member must be manually checked through the gate, and each request is stuck in a long queue of 'things to do/urgent' with a time-to-die on the request. Yes, there are back end systems that will take a request/trouble ticket, give it x days to be sorted and if it's not picked up, the whole request is deleted - if it's important someone will post it again.

I think some of these more draconian measures have been instigated as SysAdmins update the back-ends which come with lots of new features to keep security up. I do hope Chris gets round to you soon.

Ah that makes sense. Oh well...
So, any plans on installing such a system here as well?
