Ok after my jaybiliser steadycam I next set about building our own dolly.
Used it on a couple of projects and will be creating smaller versions to work in different environments. It's amazing how well it works on basic 20mm plumbing pipe. I'll eventually design and create some proper track for it out of aluminium tube that i can rack up but for now it's doing an incredible job.

Coming soon our small green screen setup, Spider dolly and tracks and glide cam. Upcoming new builds planned. Crane and Jib, Shoulder mount, Fig rig, Cineslider with motor, car mount and sandbags.

My daughter'sschool dresses make me think of the shining for some reason....

The glide cam looks interesting. Can you share some construction details? About how much weight do you think it could hold?
  6. Michael Sandiford Not quite so new!

Yet to do full weight tests. I built this as my other stabiliser was only good enough for the camera and lens alone if I wanted to add extra equipment it went to pot. I'll do a full construction post later. Cost is around the £25 mark although I have to guesstimate as some of it was material I used from other builds. It would be more accurate to price both the glidecam and Crane at about £60. I'll also be doing some video tests with both of these later this week and I'll post the results up here as well. The glidecam though does zap your strength very quickly.

Well, handholding even a "real" glidecam will sap your strength over time. But I could see some interesting uses (car mounting, dolly, etc) with your build all while keeping the price enormously low compared to the "real" things. The only thing that I'd be concerned about in your build is the wood mounting board on the top. I feel like after a bit of use, it would need to be replaced.

Its not wood. It's cork for grip. The top mounting plate unit is 2 pieces of 15x10 3mm steel on some square aluminium tube and angle with a cork grip. The base plate is also made of the same steel.

I've also got a car mount planned, but first I'm going to try and recreate the Philip Bloom Kessler cineslider.

Dude your glidecam looks nice. :)
