I'm looking for a largish backpack to take on international shoots to carry my 5D Mk3 and 4-5 additional lenses (mostly L-series primes and a 70-200mm F2.8 zoom), 15" laptop & psi, portable hard drive, headphones, topmic, radio mics, LED light, batteries and media etc. and have been looking at Thinktank, Kata and Lowepro cases... just wondered if anyone had any other brand recommendations worth considering? So far I'm thinking possibly http://products.lowepro.com/product/Pro-Runner-450-AW,2184,16.htm or http://products.lowepro.com/product/DSLR-Video-Fastpack-350-AW,2283,16.htm but not sure they are going to be big enough for all the gear I need for a typical corporate interview / GV shoot. Thanks for any tips!
Lowepro is a great brand, and I have heard good things about both Kata and Thinktank. If they have a backpack big enough, check out Crumpler bags, expensive, stylish, yet very good! I use a 6 million dollar home (I dont need to fit all that stuff, I dont travel far with all my gear) and it is GREAT! Looks great, feels great, works great! Also, normal/wear and tear, they have a lifetime warranty and will instantly replace your bag if it gets ripped up to much (That counts as normal wear and tear im guessing). So, that itself makes the price worth it for me anyway! I dont know if they have any options as far as big camera loads go.. but I do know they do have a couple camera backpacks that hold laptops and quite a lot of gear! So look into them!
For shooting stills and a little video for her own enjoyment, my wife has one of these: http://www.adorama.com/GBSLPGY.html She LOVES the thing. 5D + 4 lenses is what she packs in it.
Does anyone have experience with Digitalrev? I was thinking of buying a 5D Mark III (@2599 pounds) and some accessories there. Do you think this is a good or bad idea considering the 400 pounds off the regular UK price, but the fact that it's imported from Hong Kong?
Assuming you are from the UK, generally Hong Kong products are referred to as "Grey Market". Canon provides warranties that are country specific - The US warranty, UK warranty etc. If you get a grey market camera, it is likely that the warranty will not be valid in the UK.
Thanks for your reply. I am aware that non-UK warranties are probably not valid in the UK, but DigitalRev offers a "local warranty" themselves where they offer to pay for repairs if there's a manufacturing fault etc. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with their warranty / their sales etc. to the UK?
