Will you be offering the power supplies or the battery connections? I contributed to the Underwater Realm Kickstarter for plans for their lamps, and it was in the wiring up that I really felt I'd appreciate a 'competent adult' to do this - all that parallel versus series wiring, high voltages and earthing scares the willies out of me. What we have here is a nice metal frame for the lamps, but is it 'flat packed' for assembly, or are we shipping the whole thing pre-built? Will it really be $15 to ship that to, say, the UK? Will we get stung for import duty and VAT (adding 25-35% to the price plus an admin charge)?
Hi Matt Yes, the power supply will be provided when you purchase a set of lights, so you will have to option of using AC or DC power. My goal is to make everything modular, so if you already have a frame and lights, then you can just purchase a harness to wire it all together. I'm guessing I will have one both for AC power and DC power. I will also be creating a harness for a battery power solution, so all you would have to do is connect the wires to the battery terminals and everything else would be taken care of. However, I will not be selling the batteries anytime soon, shipping would end up costing to much, you would end up saving money buying from your local battery store. As for the frame, I will look into the VAC, there might be a way to prevent this. They will be per-built for Canada and US orders, however overseas orders will have the option of being pre-built or unassembled. Shipping of course will be more for the pre-built version; to the UK it worked out to be $70, while unassembled was only $40. If there is lots of interests in these then maybe I'll try and find a partner overseas to work with. Thank you for your interest, please let me know if you have any more questions. Hello, any updates on where to get the frames and LED lighting now? The campaign on indiegogo has expired and I can’t seem to find where to order now. Thanks
Hey Leslie, Unfortunately there was not enough interest in my product for me to start production. I will be posting some schematics on how to build them yourself on my blog sometime next month. So please check out my website www.louisstudios.ca in March and I will have all the info posted in my blog. P.S. A pic of the final product can be found on my flickr page www.flickr.com/photos/louisstudios/ Cheers, -Joel
