Basically, I landed an opportunity to shoot a pro actor for free next week as he'll be coming into town from abroad and asked for help adding Tokyo to his folio. I won't have much time to build a team before then and money isn't really even a factor (I have none). I have come up with an idea for a short narrative that takes place in one location and involves 4/5 actors. Now, I am a cameraman/DP and in the past I have always tried to stick to that as much as possible. I believe I am quite capable of directing actors, especially when it comes to my own idea and how I want it to unfold. But I am a bit nervous about juggling the two roles of DP and Director on set. Which should take precedence and how do I stop myself from focussing too much on the light, frame, movement, and composition, whilst trying to give as much attention to the action and the story as possible. Maybe it's a stupid question but I just don't want to go in feeling overly confident when in fact I am not.
