Hey I just won a Gini rig with FF and am not sure if I will be getting any lens gears with it (had none in the package but I have heard of people getting extras for free) and the Gini Gears are a little expensive and I can't afford them at the moment. So I was wondering if anyone knew if this lens gear should work, http://www.amazon.com/EzFoto-Flexibl...0721359&sr=8-1 It looks like it might work as a decent temporary lens gear till I have extra cash to get better lens Gear (which brings up the question what actually makes a lens gear better than others?) Another option I was told was the Wide Open Camera lens gears are also good but they are a little more money http://www.amazon.com/Wide-Open-Came...721410&sr=1-21 so any recommendations?
Depends on how you use them, the EzFoto is a Genus knockoff and that one gear can be used across multiple lenses. Though I can't attest to their build quality, if that tightening knob is weak or lets go then it'll be useless. I have the Wide Open zip gears, they're great. But they're also a semi-permanent fixture to your lens.
Ya I only need one as a temporary gear at the moment, currently borrow some lenses and might sell some soon (Thinking of going to Nikon lenses when ever i come across a deal).
I also have a Gini Follow Focus and it works great with these TrustMT gears that are fairly affordable. Plus, TrusMT is a great seller. The listed shipping is a bit expensive, but if you ask them, they can do cheaper shipping for the gears, but it takes about 2 weeks longer http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trusmt-Prof...mcorder_Accessory_Bundles&hash=item43ad66dede
I have a version of the exFoto ones and they work great. Standard pitch and pull just fine... haven't had any issues.
