Hi, i am a filmmaker,i am looking to buy a new digital camera for filmmaking purpose-but i am bit confused to choose the camera ,which is the best camera to get 2k resolution,ex: canon5d mark2, mark3, blackmagic cinema camera, canon c300 or anything else ,i need 2k resolution and i am a premiere pro user(to edit) anyone plz suggest me a good camera,my budget is below $4000
You won't get that far with $4000 for a whole setup. The c300 body is alone $15'000, a Black Magic body $3000 without any additional parts My guess is you don't own any lenses and other parts for a setup yet. So you'll need a camera body, lenses, tripod, lights, audio recording device, some kind of memory to save data etc. Depending on what you are trying to achive your best bet would be a used dslr for a shallow depth of field setup. If you "just" want a 1080P image then you might be happy with a automatic consumer/prosumer cam which also will offer a lot of automatic features to help you. But then again it depends on what kind of external connections you ned (xlr, hdmi, sdi etc.) So it really depends on what you want/need to do with the cam. Let us know and we might be able to point you in the right direction.
DSLRs (5D,7D, 550D, D800, etc), C300, C100, FS100 are all HD, not 2K. 2K is wider than HD. All those cameras produce an image that is lower than HD due to the way the sensors work. Only one listed that can produce a 2K image is the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. You budget does not give you much options. With that budget I'd look at a used 550D and spend what's left on glass and a simple rig...
Yes i need 2k camera body only for film purpose,so plz tell me one good camera which suits my requirement around $5000,thanks
Blackmagic cinema camera is very good but it's having many poblems with battery, screen reflections and more
And the Blackmagic is the only 2K camera that fits your budget. Blackmagic Cinema Camera does not battery issues. It has an internal back-up battery. You choose the battery solution you want. Same applies to most cinema camera. You can use V-lock, Anton Bauer, etc. So no battery issues. The screen is really only there for accessing menus. You would use an EVF or monitor for focusing, framing, etc. The Blackmagic camera is not aimed at the run and gun ENG market. It's an entry into the cinema camera market for DSLR users and for film makers looking for an affordable cinema camera. You would rig a cinema camera up according to you shooting style or environment. Adding what you needed for each situation.
Hi Adam,i am basically a adobe premiere editor, but bmd is not supporting the dng files then how i do this is there any newer upgraded version of blackmagic cinema camera is coming shortly can u give some information about BMCC plzzz...
Not sure I understand your question. Blackmagic Cinema Camera shoots in Cinema DNG when shooting 2.5K RAW. Cinema DNG is an open source file format. It's supported in Adobe Camera RAW and DaVinci Resolve (free with the camera). Generally you would not edit in RAW. You would create Proxy files for your "offline" edit, do your edit and then do your grade and "online" edit using the RAW files. A simple work flow might be: 1 Shoot Cinema DNG 2 Do first light grade in Davinci Resolve (free with the camera) - this could also be done with After Effects 3 Export Proxies 4 Edit in Premier Pro 5 Export XML 6 Open XML in DaVinci Resolve and grade footage from the RAW master files 7 Export footage and reconform in Premier Pro for delivery If you did not want to do a heavy grade on the footage you could give all your footage a "look" in Resolve and export HQ Quicktime for editing in Premier Pro and not have to return to Resolve. I know there are people using After Effects and even Lightroom to manage Cinema DNG files before editing in Premier Pro. There are many other ways of working with the files. Each persons work flow is different.
Here is an article on No Film School about DNG support: http://nofilmschool.com/2012/10/adobe-ending-support-for-cinemadng-in-premiere-pro/ Basically Adobe have stopped work on the experimental plugin for Premier as they were not happy with the performance. RAW is not an editing format. It's designed to give the postproduction team the best possible footage. You would not want to edit with it. That is why Adobe still support it in After Effects, SpeedGrade and Photoshop (including Lightroom). The same really applies to Final Cut users. They would create proxy files to edit and then grade the final edit from the RAW masters.
Hi Adam,i decided to buy bmc camera and accessories can u plzz tell me which external battery is good because i am shooting with raw,and some best accessories for bmcc plzzz for cinema purpose...
There are many options out there. If you check the Blackmagic forum (http://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/) there are many discussions about batteries. I've gone for industry standard V-Lock batteries. Mine are from Swit (sold by ProAV in the UK) and a rail mounted V-Lock mount. Mine is made by Tilta.
