  1. Matthew Quinnell Not quite so new!

Hello I am currently in the market for a new tripod, for about $400 NZ which equates to about 200 British Pounds.
I know the tripod is very important and you should spend a fair amount of money on it but it is all I can afford right now ($400 ain't chicken feed to the working man).

I would like to buy a more expensive one sometime in the future but right now If anyone is able to give me any recommendations I would be very grateful, I would be using it with a Sony z1p camera and canon 60D dslr camera.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
  2. Adam Roberts Chatty!

At that price point that is not much that could be honestly recommended. You might be better off looking on the 2nd hand market.

Even the Manfrotto entry level kit based on the 701 or 501 head are about £250.

Libec have a few that are cheaper but I've not used them so can't comment.

The e-image range are worth considering. They are cheaper than the Manfrotto range. I've used them and they are not to bad considering the price. I did find the bags were pretty weak tho.

great thanks for your reply, didnt actually think about the second hand stuff so might have a bit of a search and see whats on offer.

also a friend of mine suggested http://www.sitech.co.nz/product_details/c/352/p/357
specifically 'A257-128LP: Kit includes Benro A257 tripod with Manfrotto 128LP fluid effect head'
which he let me borrow a few years ago and which i thought worked quite well.

    i filmed this with it

might go in to them aswell and see if i can try it again if they have any in stock.
also looked at benro tripods too but am not sure if there heads are any good.
