Just a few shots knocked off one Sunday when I had the camera to play around with. Just to show you don’t always need a 35mm to get nice looking shots. Even with a 1/3″ chip.
As you can tell, I like filming water!
Download the full HD 1080p version to see it at it’s best.

March 4, 2009 at 22:46yes the 301e is a world camera so shoots everything including 24p. 24p is not an NTSC format but is often found on NTSC cameras and not Pal cameras. But this is a true multi format camera.

March 10, 2009 at 16:27Nice shots Phil. Would you be willing to share some basic info on how you graded this short? It’s got a fantastic yellow foggy feel, which I am guessing is not entirely down to the atmospherics on the day?

March 21, 2009 at 20:45thank you for posting the information on the new p2 300 looks very interesting. your footage is also very beautiful. i just have a couple of questions.
1) i did not see much panning or zooming with the camera…does this camera work as a progressive 24 or does it have issues with pans?
2) does the right side usb port come on the american version of the camera?
3) and as john mentioned how did you do the gradation…truly beautiful

March 21, 2009 at 21:19Mikael, don’t know!
Willem. If you buy the 300 you will have 24p, 30p and 60i only
John. I used a very subtle Magic Bullet Looks grade that I created myself
Scott. I don’t zoom with cameras really. Panning, sometimes. but this camera does not like fast pans due to rolling shutter. USB is on both version of camera.

May 4, 2009 at 15:05Beautiful shots. But I wonder: where does that very visible chromatic aberration (that magenta fringe mostly found at the border of light/white objects, i.e. see water to stones at 01:15) come from? Is it the default lense? Or is the camera itself so sensitive (in a bad way)? Or did you overexpose on purpose?

May 24, 2009 at 08:11hi Tamir
there is noise and it is evident even if you download the mp4 version of this compressed version. I mentioned it in my original review on my blog. Yes you can suppress it with tweaks in settings to an extent but compared to say the ex3 it is very noisy.

June 17, 2009 at 19:53Hello Philip,
I recently discovered your site and have spent a lot of time enjoying your work. A Sunday in Kent was lovely! I think that you mentioned somewhere else that you were planning to discuss your use of music at sometime in the future. I’ll look forward to that but one quick musical question, what is the name of the piece by Satie that you used in this film? Also, what kind of a dolly did you use to get the move on the “Footpath” shot at the end of the film?
Regards,
David
