That’s so impressive! Blows my HV20 out of the water :)
I think it’s so cool that still and motion cameras are converging again!

Will be interesting to see who wins the hybrid race. I figured red would have nailed it but without a manageable camera that is easily rigged up either way, which is what I think the Scarlet FF35 will be, available yet, its letting the other players get the jump. So who will be best placed to get us a camera that will do it all ?? Sony, Panasonic ? The big video cam makers or the big still cam makers, Canon , Nikon ?? AND, now we want 2 types of cams in one, how hard is it going to be to get the camera that “does it all ” ?? Ha ha :)

in two years everything we think is great now will suck…it’s all gonna change!

Hey Philip, I like your style.. We spend a lot of time and effort working with all sorts of smaller format cameras and and cant wait to get a really sweet hybrid, just wish they would hurry up and give us what we really want! p.s is that rolling shutter problems in the fire shots?
    Regards
    Paul

    1. pbloom says:

Hi Paul, it’s to do with the refresh rate of your computer clashing with the flash or something I have been told. Go to XR and join or go to vimeo and join then download the .mp4. You won’t see the issue in that version.

Very peaceful, impressive and beautifully coloured scenes, interesting angles.
    In short: excellent and creative!

    (… and nearly unbelievable: filmed with a “still”-camera… )

    1. pbloom says:

the angles were all i could achieve as I had no tripod!!

Can the GH1 be used as replacement camcorder?
    many thanks

    Philip,

I love in this video the way the golden-orange light of the sun sets and then how it becomes the same light as the burning fire…like a death and rebirth.

Hey Philip, I think this video is very poetic just like your other ones. I just want to let you know that you inspired me to do what I do. Over a year ago, I stumbled on your site and saw some of your videos, since then I have been shooting nonstop and I have been addicted ever since. Last summer, I went to Shanghai, China for the 2010 world fair. I ended up shooting 2 TimeLapse peaces there one daytime, and one nighttime. Both were entirely inspired by you and your work. My dream is to one day make feature films. I applied to NYU Tisch grad program for Film Production and I got in!! I will be attending Tisch Asia in Singapore this coming Fall. I just want to really thank you for inspiring me to do what I do. If I did not stumble on your site, I would have never brought my 5d mark 2 and I am sure I would not have gotten into the school of my dreams. I am at Singapore now looking for an apt, and will be flying to Bali tomorrow to shoot some more TimeLapses, I once again went on your site for inspiration and guidance. If you have the chance, here are the 2 TimeLapses I shot in Shanghai last year, inspired by your work. I would love to hear what you think or any advice you can give me. http://vimeo.com/14854534 http://vimeo.com/14884919 Cheers!!
