Tutorial on syncing sound with the 5dmk2 and Pluraleyes for FCP. Win a license.

Whilst in Delhi I shot two long interviews.

The 5d could only record 12 minute chunks before you had to stop and start so I did them in takes. I recorded sound on the zoom H4n. I have converted all the rushes to Pro Res and will be giving the hard drive to Greenpeace at the end of the week. I am also doing the sound syncing for them. Especially as I have pluraleyes from www.singularsoftware.com and they don’t.

Pluraleyes does all the work for you. You don’t need to use a clapperboard or ident or even a sync clap. Just make sure the 5dmk2 is recording audio so it has something to match up to. Best to use a separate mic like the Rode Shotgun to make sure you get the best quality audio for Pluraleyes to use to match up.

In conjunction with www.fstopacademy.com and the publishing of this tutorial I have one license for Pluraleyes to give away worth $149! If you want this, and I have only one to give away, please email with the answers to these questions…

Name the two short films I made starring my Dad, what they were filmed on and what was the music used in each film, title and artist? First person to get the answers right gets the license!!

EDIT: James Swirsky wins the license. Well done!!!

  1. Philip… When you get a chance to take a breath, it would be awesome if you could partner with Singular Software to arrange a special deal on Plural Eyes for your faithful followers around the world. The price isn’t outrageous, but the financial meltdown has really cut the purchasing power of us over in Asia…

Thanks again for being so generous with your knowledge!
