I want to see just how many HD-DSLR shooters we can get in one place at one time. So the day after my LA masterclass I propose that if as many of you can get to LA on the 7th March come with your HD-DSLR to Venice Beach just outside the sidewalk cafe for 12pm and see just how many of us can make it! Please spread the word with message boards, forums, friends etc. Hey, even if you don’t have a HD-DSLR come along with a camera and document it. Be great to set what everybody gets out of the same situation!
We can have a nice drink or two and some grub afterwards!
Below is an interview I did at the Bay Area meet-up last week with Newsblaze.com and Michael Sato about why I do the meet ups and about the big meet up in Venice Beach coming soon.

We had a meet up in October in LA at the same place and it was great. Must have been about 30-40 of us. We need to smash that one this time.
Here is what I shot a couple of days after that last meet up…and below that is what Paul Reynolds who came all the way down from Oregon shot.

I would be there in a heart beat but I’ll be preparing to head out on an Owyhee River adventure at about that time… (One you where supposed to be on… Maybe next year when you’re not shooting at SkyWalker Ranch and stuff). I’ll be at NAB all week with nothing to do so maybe I’ll bug you then… and Tom Guilmette, and Tom Lowe… and…
Cheers!
Hey Phillip –
Great to meet you in person at Skywalker today. Interesting intimate group discussion on digital filmmaking. Most of us haven’t had the luxury of seeing 5D output taken to the big screen. I must say that your two recent films (Skywalker and Prague) looked beautiful on that impressive 2K projection.
regards – Scott
great meeting you too Scott!
Philip, is this exclusively for certain people? Or can anyone attend this event?
More the merrier! Spread the word!
Very cool. Hope you don’t mind, I’m bringing a JAG!!
We havent met yet Philip, but I’ll be there for sure – I just happen to be in LA for 3 weeks for work, staying right on Venice beach. also hoping to get along to your masterclass.
Looking forward to it!
How about something along these lines for UK folk too?
ie. something IN the UK…. (sorry should have been clearer)
I’m up for that as well. How about Bournemouth?
Venice Beach is warmer
Seconded! – or even better, in Ireland 🙂
done that!
With HD-DSLR knobs on!
Loved the shots in Venice’s People, really seemed to capture the atmosphere of the place (even though I’ve never been!). Nice one.

Ill see you in San francisco and Venice!
I’m seeing if my friend Chris Gronau, another 7d hdslr guy would come with me.

Absolutely! And the class. BTW, did you ever get the email about the training DVD? I sent it to help at philipbloom dot co dot uk.
cant find email…send to philip@philipbloom.co.uk
Great stuff. Shame that HDSLRs suffer from gradient vignetting, trying my best to get round this on the 7D… any tips?
what do you mean…can you send me examples?
I will be there!
good stuff
That sounds perfect! I’m trying to get to the workshop but thats the day I need to help my gf move. Sunday would be great to meet up!
Awesome, wish I was in LA at this time – sadly wont be heading there till june/july now…
Anyone know what that portable led / light source at 1:37 is in the first interview video ??? Looks pretty decent for the size.

Hi Phil,
When are you going to do an NY meetup? Maybe when it gets a little warmer?
J
when i have a job out there Jeff
im from the philly area, but yeah, id travel to NY, or washington… actually boston works too as i can combine that with a visit to family… kill two birds with one stone. the CA one would be awesome, but i just burned through 4 grand on camera gear. ha.
Wish I could help on that front. But I will keep my eyes open! 🙂
Hi Philip, I am big fan. Planning to buy HD-SLR. Any plan for something (DSLR Meeting) like this in India.
Thankx a lot.
I would love to go….I will be in LA for first time in my life but I will work covering the Oscars. I think your event will be more exciting than the Oscars. I hope I can escape for a little while and join you.
What time is the meetup? Would love to get by before my Oscar Party shoot.
am sure you can make it! meet up is 12
What the deuce?
You had to do it the day we fly our for work…
How long will this meet-up last until?
until we get bored!
It looks like there’s gonna be some rain shower on that date … so plan accordingly guys!
then we take over sidewalk cafe and eat and drink!
Hi Philip,
I’m really looking forward to meeting you Sunday! Cannot wait!!! Coming from Phoenix, AZ.
Nicole Roberts

I came out today for the 3/7 meet, but I had to leave before meeting anybody. 🙁 Hopefully there will be another Venice meet (it’s tradition now)
