THE TWO DAY IS SOLD OUT BUT THERE IS SPACE IN THE ONE DAY…IT’S GOING TO BE AMAZING AS WE ARE DOING IT ON THE SET OF THE OLD TV SHOW THE BILL. BOOK YOUR ONE DAY TICKETS SOON!!!
For the first time ever I will be bringing my 2 day shooting workshop to London, not just that by my newly revamped creativity/ Story focused one day is part of the schedule!
Both workshops will be invaluable. The one day goes over an enormous amount. Not stuff on my site. Very much focused on storytelling and how to use what you have to help tell that story and learn more about how to tell a good story. The one is a larger group and although there are live demonstrations there is no time for students to do an actual shoot. That is where the two day comes in…There are full descriptions on the booking page for the one day and the two day and below the promo video here.
Previous 30 second shorts made by the students can be seen at the end of the post too!
The promo below was for the Canada workshops but they are more or less the same as the London ones, just more…Canadiany! 🙂
It is essential that you understand this is not information which can be absorbed from the internet. You will come away from this workshop with a renewed enthusiasm and a desire to push yourself further than you ever thought was possible.
‘Story is King’ and this philosophy will be at the heart of Philip’s London events. We will cover a wide range of topics all focused on helping you tell a story in a more visual and individual way. Practical demonstrations on shooting interviews, harnessing natural light and how to use it to your advantage, using gear to enhance your storytelling and also seeing through the hype to determine when additional gear can help or possibly hinder your production. Sometimes the simplest techniques can give you beautiful visuals. Lens whacking, sliders, jibs, high speed, these are just some of the practical techniques we will cover which you can use to enhance your productions. Philip will be sharing his thought process as he works through a shoot in front of the students with a very tight deadline which will then be shown to the class after a very quick edit.
The value of the One Day Workshop cannot be overstated. It is essential that you understand this is not information that can be absorbed from the internet. Technical specs, camera reviews and ‘how to’ videos can all be found online but what you will come away from these workshops with is a renewed enthusiasm and a desire to push yourself further than you ever thought was possible!
The Two Day Workshop has repeatedly proven to be a rewarding experience for all attendees. Held at the famous Wimbledon Studios, home of The Bill, it will be a workshop not to be missed!
The Two Day Workshop is a much smaller group with a more indiviudal focus on each attendee. Story is still at the core of the workshop and we will also explore the art of looking at things differently. After some brief introductions and new techniques, all students will be challenged to shoot a 30 seconds short film in a limited amount of time under the guidance of Philip and his team. The topic is not revealed until just before the timer starts! Whether experienced or relatively new to filming, this exercise has proven to be enormously challenging but incredibly fulfilling to all who have participated As in his own every day work, Philip will explain why it is so important to remove yourself from your comfort zone, this will be a unique experience for each and every student. With Philip on hand to give help and throw ideas at you, you will be asked to edit the piece over night (yes, homework!) and come back the following day for screenings and feedback on your work.
Following the student analysis on Day Two we will cover ways to enhance your stories and make them more visually compelling through technique, lighting and equipment. We will also look at enhancing your approach to shooting interviews.
Two days of creativity and filming designed to pull you out of your comfort zone!
