I just got this in the mail today. Got stuck at customs for a week and I ended up with 30 quids worth of duty and tax charges on it. Not cool. I wish I had bought it whilst in the US, would have saved me some money! Anyway, for all you Canon 5dmkII owners […]
Well we all know the LCD screen on the 5d mk II is very difficult to use, mainly because of it’s fixed position but also it’s size. Focusing is only really possible when using things like the Zacuto Z-Finder, Hoodman 3.0 or ideally, an external LCD monitor. I currently own the Ikan 5600.
http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eos5dmk2/firmware.html It was an absolute breeze to install. You need an external CF card reader, format the card, stick it in the reader, download the file from above, stick it in on the root directory of the card, put a fresh battery in, put the card in, select firmware update and Bob’s your uncle. Fully […]
We have all been begging for it and it seems Canon are going make us all very happy! Full manual control. That’s right, aperture, shutter and ISO with new firmware in early June. Can’t wait. I can now buy some Canon lenses and take advantage of all the features they […]
Today is the launch of the GH1 to the photographic press in Europe. I will be doing a 20 minute talk about shooting with it and then showing my two films to them. The commissioned piece on Joshua Tree and Kauai Sunset, the slow motion piece I knocked off in an hour with the stock lens and […]
When I stepped out into the bright sunlight, from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: sunblock and vitamin water (first person to name the semi quote wins nothing!) Well it was VERY bright sunlight and I had just seen Star Trek (great), but it was time for […]
I had mucked around with it briefly , but hadn’t really tried it out properly. So a couple of days ago I took it out for the afternoon with Ryan Pointer from the Kauai Visitor Information Channel. They had hired me to come out for a week to take a look around with the idea […]
Nice discovery…If you shoot in 720p mode, not full HD, with the Lumix you go into 50p mode. This is useful as it means you can record slow motion if you reconform to 25p in cinema tools. Click here for a short tutorial on how to do it. I was out with my client, Jimit […]
I have just arrived in Kauai. Exhausted but my Nikon adaptor was waiting for me that I ordered off of ebay from china so I HAD to knock off a few shots, as you do.
Panasonic UK have asked me to take a look at their new Lumix GH1. This is an updated version of the G1 with added video. Video in DSLRs is a relatively new concept, little compacts have been shooting video for years but it wasn’t until Nikon brought out the D90 and then Canon brought out […]
I took a day off NAB and went off in my soft top into the Nevada desert with Joe Stunzi. We both got very sunburned and there is a cool video blog coming up of the making of this film but in the meantime enjoy the short film
I want this camera. It hasn’t come out. Maybe June and no idea how much it will cost but it uses the micro four thirds system shoots 12mp stills and 1080p 24p full hd Video in AVCHD.
Get ready…this will be a soppy blog! A week ago I went down to Dungeness to make another short film the Cinemek G35. I was supposed to go on the Saturday but he weather was awful. That day I drove to my parents house in Kent, where I grew up. I needed to still […]
