  • Hi Philip – I have an interest in some private tutoring. I have zero background in video/photo. I owned my own printing business for 10 years, which I just recently sold. I am reinvesting some of the proceeds of this into learning video as something to do just for myself.

My kit currently consists of an EX-1, Letus Ultimate & Rods, various lenses, etc.. and I am continually adding to it with lights, sound, etc…

I edit on a Mac Pro 8 core in the office, and a MBP in the field, using FCP.

I understand you are coming to the St. Louis, Mo area for a feature length assignment. I live 200 miles from St Louis, and wondered if maybe we could schedule something for before the shoot? It is possible we could generate some interest from others as well.

I would appreciate a reply, if you have any interest, detailing costs, length of time, a list of additional equipment you think I should acquire.

You can reach me at printzilla@gmail.com

    Thanks – Marc

  • Hi Philip,

Got your details from David Dunkley-Gyimah, and saw the video of you talking about the sony camera on his viewmagazine website, also watched the reel you shot, and was blown away.

I really want to get my head around this HD stuff and of course that means the cameras, I am possibly speending too much by shooting on super 16mm. below is a link to my latest project that we started shooting on 16mm

I am going to LA and want to shoot a section of the story out there and the thought of getting a DP and a S16mm kit and crew is daunting. Of course if I have something lighter I can move around with a small crew or just a DP and get more images, what do you suggest? As this section is in LA, a different look might be good, and obviously I can do something in the grade. However, do let me know the costs of hiring the KIT in the UK, because your work and images have inspired me. LOVELY STUFF!

Hi Q, sorry not sure kit hire costs. Would you not hire in LA?

  • hi, i’ve been looking over your site and have seemingly failed utterly to find a way of contacting you about rates and hire, so i think this might be the right place.

basically, i’m based in the UK and looking to shoot a feature film in early 09, i’m looking for a DOP and your stuff is probably the best i’ve seen in about 2 years, so would like to see if you would be willing to look over the project. it seems youre pretty busy, but i thought i would hedge my bets at the very least. couldnt find a phone number on the site either, so would it be ok for you to fling an email my way?

    thanks

Hi Sean, my email and phone is on front page below news section.

  • What is the tripod you most use?

    • for lightweight travel for miller solo ds20 for heavy duty work the vinten vision 11 with fibertec legs

      • How good are these DS10/20 miller heads for pan/tilt btw? I’ve got a cheapo Matthews M25 and despite people had been telling good things about it before I bought it now I find it a crap. :-(

  • Hi Philip,

Do you know is there a cache recording feature on the EX3?

    Thanks,

    Jonathan.
