Australia and New Zealand meet ups!!

2012 Philip Bloom Ric Creaser Filmmakers Workshop – Melbourne from MelbourneDSLR on Vimeo.

A preview teaser of what’s on offer at the Philip Bloom and Ric Creaser filmmakers workshops currently being run in Australia and New Zealand and presented by Rode microphones. Go see them.

Only a short time until I jet off to Australia and then NZ for my DLSR/ large chip workshop. Melbourne, Sydney and Perth are sold out. There are a few spaces left for Byron Bay, Adelaide and Auckland. Click here to book for those.

Meet ups will be happening for all the locations and they are not exclusively for workshop attendees. Anyone can come. It’s a great chance to network with similar people. Most of the will be the night of the workshop. One main exception is Byron Bay which will happen on the 8th of March. The night before as we are zipping off to Brisbane after the workshop to fly to Perth the next day.

They are fun social gatherings. Bring your cameras if you want, no formal filming. Just drink, chat and eat…

Most of the locations are TBC so bookmark this page and check back! If you are local to the venues please let me know suggestions for meet up locations. Key are a nice space…and of course Hendricks gin!!

  1. Best Auckland location would be New Zealand’s top film school, South Seas Film & Television School. They are celebrating their 20th year. I’m the screenwriting and directing tutor there and we would love to have you!

  2. The Fringe is on in Adelaide, so there’s lots of buzz in the city (shows, performers, lights, rides, etc…). Might be the go?! Plenty of pubs/cafes/restaurants on Rundle Street.

Either way… can’t wait to meet up again.

  3. Hi Philip,

    Hope your feeling better.
Went to Bondi Road Hotel last night, was looking forward to meeting you.
Any chance you can reschedule the Sydney meet up?
Could even be a coffee in the Hotel lobby.

If you could that would be great 🙂

  4. I’m all signed up and looking forward to the Auckland workshop.

Rakinos is a good option and great location, close to the workshop as Jeremy commented.

    Other options are

    &

    http://www.tylerstreetgarage.co.nz/

Both are pretty cool. I have to say nothing beats the roof top area at Tyler St Garage on a summers evening that would be my pick, awesome views out to the harbor hard to beat really. You can book upstairs for private functions, it has a bar to cater just for that area as well, totally worth it.

  5. Hey Philip is the Byron meet a day thing still or a meet up at the Byron hotel instead?? I’m coming from Brisbane as it would be cool to meet you and find out more
    Cheers Pete

      1. Looking forward to having a beer with you Phil, I hope you feel better?
I’m flying down from Cairns and get to Byron at about 6 pm don’t drink the bar dry, before I get there!

        Cheers

        Colin

  6. If you haven’t already got any suggestions for a location for a meetup in Adelaide, a great social and potentially photographic location you might like to consider is the “Garden of Unearthly Delights” in Rymill Park – just off the east end of the city centre – it is running until the 18th of March.

This venue is a temporary arts and entertainment venue set in the middle of the park-lands as part of the Adelaide Fringe festival 2012 (Australia’s answer to the Edinburgh Arts festival). Bars, food and space are all a plenty. http://www.gardenofunearthlydelights.com.au/

The only problem will be if it is raining as it is outdoors. Hopefully the rains will have come and gone by Thursday night.
