All Santa's dreams came true!

I just wanted to write a quick blog as we tick into Christmas Day over here in England. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday or if you are working…sorry…that was me last year!

It’s been a hell of year. Much has happened and the readership of my website/blog has soared, especially tied in with the HD-DSLR revolution. The site workload has gone up enormously so If I haven’t replied to an email you have sent me, please persist and send again. They get a bit lost in backlog and you tend to get replied to if i happen to have my blackberry in my hand at the time!

Use this free time to shoot if you can and I hope you get a nice new lens, camera or some other cool bit of gear! I have got my dad the very cool Canon 500D (Rebel Ti1) to get him back into photography and he may even end up using it for video…but I doubt it. It’s OK…am not ruining surprise, he doesn’t read my blog!

Thanks to everyone who has been a big help to me this year. Den Lennie, Steve Weiss, Sara Collaton, Rick McCallum, Mike Blanchard, Dave Beck, my family and friends and so many more than I couldn’t possibly mention them all, especially my new internet buddies through Twitter, most of whom I haven’t met but consider them friends.

Have a great Christmas and speak soon! I just want to leave you with the short film you have already seen am sure, but it’s the most Christmassy short film I have made!

Prague: Canon 1DMKIV from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

Shot on location in Prague on a very cold winter weekend.

Testing out the low light of a pre-production Canon 1DMKIV

Thanks to Rick McCallum, Albert Hughes and Daniel Bird.

More info on blog about lenses etc etc…

Loved all the infos, movies, helps, tips and tricks you send and share during all the time. I know its some work doing all this goodies, but we appreciate a lot.
Very rare to find an artist that is also a good teacher (yes own your dvd!!!). Buying a 7D to start doing my own stuff was the easiest part, the hardest part is doing great stuff with it. So thx a lot, I loved specialy the Sofia people and the Skywalker ranch video that transmit a lot of poesy. Hope to share soon good videos…

Thx happy new year to the moving image catcher !!!

  23. David says:

  26. Oh Philip, I see I must come more frequently to your web! You were in Prague, my hometown, several times and I had no idea…such a shame I couldn´t thank you personally for all your work yo do. BTW – location of the opening (and closing) image of your Prague film is about 100m from my former appartement :-) Please let me know next time you will go to Prague!
    Take care, Peter.
