“will Scarlet “kill off” the VDSLR? Leave your 2 cents here…”
I think the Scarlet has a major market – however a US$5k camera – killing off viable options with the 7D a $1600 investment is ludicrous. The 1D Mark IV is $5k however the upcoming 5D3, 7D2 etc etc – are going to match and beat the 1D4 with video, and each step will get better, and cheaper.
If the image quality of the original RED is anything to go by, then the Scarlet will be great.
Much as there is a market in professional film – right now with main cameras still shooting film or RED, studios are using the 5D Mark II and now the 7D – the level of investment of these options being so low that this format – will just get better.
Viva la Red! viva la Scarlet! However – viva la VDSLR!
But wow – the interchangeable lens option is tempting…. hmmmm
